LITHUANIA RECEIVED SPECIAL ATTENTION DURING KRYNICA ECONOMIC FORUM
On 5-7 September XVII Economic Forum was held in Poland, Krynica. During the Forum, informally labelled as Davos of Eastern Europe, politicians, businessmen, representatives of academic society from the Central and Eastern Europe discussed the prospects of political and economic development of the region. This year Lithuania participated in the Forum as a special guest. Such status was granted to Lithuania for the first time.
Lithuanian Embassy in Warsaw together with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy presented prospects of the country’s economy, culture and tourism. The stand of Lithuania received special attention, so did promotional films about the country.
Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Economy Vytautas Naudužas and Director General of Lithuanian Development Agency Titas Anuškevičius presented business development and investment opportunities in Lithuania, shared the experience of economic reforms and EU membership.
During the Forum photography exhibition “Lithuania on the Way to Europe” by Arūnas Baltrėnas was opened. The exhibition presented the cultural heritage of Lithuania, it was arranged at the initiative of the Faculty of History of the Vilnius University and Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Guests of the Economic Forum had an opportunity to listen to the concert performed by Čiurlionis Quartet of the National Philharmonic.
At Krynica Economic Forum Lithuania was represented by Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Jaroslav Neverovič, members of Seimas (the Parliament) Gintaras Steponavičius and Birutė Vėsaitė as well as representatives of Lithuanian academic society. European Commissioner from Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė also took part at the Forum.
Every year this Forum gathers together approximately 2000 guests from all Central and Eastern European countries.
