As of 1 May this year, the diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Lithuania in foreign countries will issue visas of a new type, the form of which was set by an EU Council Regulation and is obligatory to all the European Union member states.
The new visa of Lithuania will not differ in its form from visas issued in the European Union and in the Schengen area.
For the moment, this Lithuanian visa will be valid only for travelling to Lithuania, but after the country’s joining the Schengen area it will be valid for travelling to other Schengen countries as well.
The new visas were printed in France. Lithuania received the first batch of the new visa stamps in the beginning of April and supplied with them all Lithuanian missions abroad.
