On 6 February, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered a diplomatic note of strong protest to a representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Lithuania regarding unlawful and unjustifiable attacks against Ukrainian civilians, energy infrastructure, and other critical facilities.
The Ministry notes that by choosing undeniably civilian targets, such as a bus carrying miners, the market in Druzhkivka or an ambulance, as well as heat and electricity supply companies, Russia once again demonstrates that its participation in peace negotiations is merely an imitation, because the aggressor country has no interest in stopping the massacre of the Ukrainian people and stopping this aggression against a sovereign state. The protest note also underlines that the organisers and perpetrators of war crimes and other international crimes committed by Russia will be identified and held accountable without any statute of limitations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania maintains that its protest notes do not allow for ignoring Russia's aggression and war crimes, and in the future will be used as evidence to ensure the accountability of the Russian political and military leadership and those who carried out criminal orders.
