On 30 October, a Lithuanian delegation headed by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Darius Jurgelevičius presented the last fifth annual programme of the country’s' preparations for membership in the Alliance for 2003-2004 to the NATO Senior Political Committee Reinforced (SPC(R)) at its session in Brussels.
The Lithuanian officials acquainted NATO representatives with the country's readiness for membership in the Alliance in the political, defence, security and economic fields, military forces reform and planned Lithuania’s contribution to NATO rapid reaction forces. Alliance representatives positively evaluated Lithuania’s efforts and inquires about further steps of the country implementing the reforms.
