LITHUANIA PARTICIPATES IN THE EUROPEAN DEVELOPMENT DAYS
On 13-17 November Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Laimonas Talat-Kelpša will represent Lithuania during the first edition of the European Development Days.
The event aims at enhancing public awareness about development assistance to the poorest states and about the European Union’s - as the largest assistance provider in the world - policy towards implementation of the UN Millennium Development Goals.
On 16 November Mr Talat-Kelpša will take part in the round-table discussion on the state rehabilitation, and present the aims, projects and experience of Lithuanian development cooperation. The Undersecretary of the Ministry will also draw attention to Lithuania’s experience of heading the Ghor Provincial Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan.
At the experts exhibition Lithuania will present a stand “Global Problems – Regional Solutions: Lithuanian Way”, where Lithuania’s activities, development cooperation policy aims, priority states and areas and projects under way will be introduced.
The concept of the presentation reflects Lithuania’s striving to contribute to security, stability and democratic processes in the region and to global problem resolution, basing on Lithuania’s advantages – state building, reform and European integration experience.
The European Development Days will include a wide range of events: plenary sessions, round table discussions, presentations by the EU Member States and international organisations, EU-Africa business forum, cultural events for the general public.
