Lithuania opens its Honorary Consulate in Piraeus, Greece
On 23 February, Lithuania officially opened its Honorary Consulate in Piraeus, which has jurisdiction in the regional unit Piraeus, the periphery of Attica, and a group of islands in the southern Aegean - the Cyclades. The event was attended by the Minister of the Interior of Lithuania Agnė Bilotaitė and the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Hellenic Republic Lina Skerstonaitė.
“We are delighted that Lithuania has managed to find and appoint an excellent Honorary Consul in Piraeus - Dimitris Vassilakis - who is a well-known and active businessman and a great friend of Lithuania. We hope that with the help of the Honorary Consul, cooperation between Lithuania and Greece will become even more active in various areas, especially in shipping. Therefore, it is very symbolic that the official opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate takes place on board a ship,” said Skerstonaitė.
Lithuania has opened three Honorary Consulates in Greece — Crete, Thessaloniki, and Piraeus.
