LITHUANIA ONCE AGAIN INVITES LATVIA TO TAKE PART IN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT JOINT COMMITTEE SESSION

On 23 May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania (MFA) sent a note to the Latvian MFA, repeatedly inviting its officials to participate in the session of the Joint Committee of the Free Trade Agreement between the three Baltic States. Discussions concerning the Latvian State Internal Market Protection Bureau’s decision “On confirming the results of research on applying market protection measures against the increased import of pork products and livestock” are on the agenda of the session. In the note Latvia is asked to withhold from any unilateral actions till the issue will be considered at the Joint Committee’s session. For the first time Riga was invited to debate its decision to apply protection measures against the import of Lithuanian pork products and livestock on 14 May this year.
