Lithuania lodged a protest with Belarus over discriminatory actions against Lithuanian carriers
On November 21, as the Belarusian authoritarian regime continued its discriminatory actions against Lithuanian carriers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania handed a note of protest to the representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus to Lithuania.
The Belarusian side was informed that Lithuania considered the intentional non-release of trucks, trailers, and semi-trailers belonging to Lithuanian companies and citizens from the territory of Belarus as a deliberate seizure of property and a gross violation of generally accepted provisions of international law.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania firmly demanded that the Republic of Belarus immediately cease these discriminatory actions and warned that otherwise the Republic of Lithuania reserves the right to take appropriate legal actions, claim compensation for the damage caused, and take other countermeasures both at the national and European Union level.
