LITHUANIA IS READY TO HELP UKRAINE IMPLEMENT THE ACTION PLAN TOWARDS VISA LIBERALISATION, LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER SAYS
On 22 November, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis congratulated Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko on the launch of an action plan towards the establishment of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens traveling to the European Union and offered Lithuania’s support for the implementation of the action plan.
“This is an important practical step for overcoming the existing state borders and for drawing our nations closer together,” Minister A.Ažubalis said during the telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart.The Minister offered the support of the Government of Lithuania for a smooth implementation of this plan. “Experts from appropriate institutions will be ready to share their expertise and to cooperate in fulfilling all the technical requirements related to the implementation of the action plan,” Lithuanian Foreign Minister said.
The action plan towards the establishment of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens was announced during the EU-Ukraine Summit in Brussels on 22 November.
According to Minister A.Ažubalis, the action plan provides great impetus for further advancement of relation between the EU and Ukraine.
During the conversation, Minister K.Gryshchenko thanked Lithuania for its steady support to Ukraine in the area of European integration.
On 25 October at the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, Minister A.Ažubalis said that the announcement of the action plan had to be the main result of the EU-Ukraine Summit.
