Lithuania and Denmark will seek to strengthen their cooperation in the EU. Both countries are interested in the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty as soon as possible, which would help to create new and strong Union.
P.S.Møller informed about the preparations for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009, and expressed the hope that this Conference will reach historic agreement on the extension of the Kyoto Protocol.
Minister V.Ušackas assured that Lithuania is determined to contribute to the EU’s efforts to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by 20 percent by 2020. The minister added that Lithuania is interested in taking over the Danish good practice in the energy sector. This would promote energy efficiency and the use of the renewable energy resources.
Since the very restoration of Lithuania’s independence, Denmark has always supported Lithuania in its way to the EU and NATO. This country is the third largest foreign investor in Lithuania.
