LITHUANIA HELPS TO SUPPLY HEALTH CARE INSTITUTIONS IN THE REGIONS OF GEORGIA WITH MODERN MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

On 13 September, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with Director of Caritas Georgia, Father Witold Szulczynski and doctors from the Caritas Clinic in Tbilisi. The meeting focused on the implementation of Lithuania’s development cooperation project, aiming to supply primary health care centres in the Samtshe-Dzhavaheti region, South of Georgia, with modern electrocardiogram (EKG) machines.

“This is a genuine and sincere project, which aims to help people regardless of their rank, social status or gender. Health is one of the most important aspects in a person’s life,” A.Ažubalis said.

This is the second project that Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs implements in order to help health care institutions in Georgia. This year, Lithuania together with the Government of Japan helped the Iashvili Children’s Hospital in Georgia to buy the latest eye surgery equipment for the treatment of eye diseases in premature babies. Doctors from Vilnius University Hospital Santariškių Clinics will go to Georgia and will teach the Georgian medics to use this equipment.

The Minister is paying a working visit to Georgia on 13-15 September.
