LITHUANIA EXPECTS THAT COOPERATION WITH BELARUS WILL CORRESPOND TO THE SPIRIT OF FRIENDLY RELATIONS
On 16 November, Ambassador of Belarus to Lithuania Vladimir Drazhin was summoned to Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explain why the visa of Belarus was not issued to Member of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania Emanuelis Zingeris.
Delegated by the Board of the Seimas, E.Zingeris had an intention to read the welcome speech on behalf of the Speaker of the Seimas Irena Degutienė at the European Forum, which was organised by one of the opposition leaders of Belarus Alexander Milinkevich on 14 November.
During the conversation with Ambassador of Belarus V.Drazhin, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius regretted that the visa was not issued to Member of the Seimas E.Zingeris. According to the Vice-Minister, this does not correspond to the practice of good neighbourly relations. Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius expressed trust that in the future the cooperation with Belarus would be smooth and would correspond to the spirit of friendly relations.
