LITHUANIA ENCOURAGES TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE CIVIL SOCIETY DEVELOPMENT IN THE EASTERN NEIGHBOURS

On 11 May in Tallinn, Undersecretary of Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry Evaldas Ignatavičius took part in the meeting of Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Baltic States, responsible for the development cooperation.

During the informal consultations, issues included on agenda of General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC), that will be held on 18-19 May in Brussels, were discussed: the development cooperation in the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership Initiative and its financing.

Talking about EU Eastern Partnership Initiative, Undersecretary of the Ministry E.Ignatavičius stressed the importance of an active and coordinated action, while implementing the Eastern Partnership Initiative program.

"Lithuania will seek that more attention should be paid to the development of civil society in partner countries in the framework of Eastern Partnership Initiative program ", said the Undersecretary of the Ministry.

During his visit in Tallinn, Undersecretary of the Ministry met with Director General of the 3rd Political Department of Estonian Foreign Ministry Märt Volmer, responsible for Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, Australia and Oceania, and discussed the relations with Eastern neighbours.
