LITHUANIA ENCOURAGES ARMENIA TO APPLY THE EXPERIENCE OF REGIONAL COOPERATION OF THE BALTIC COUNTRIES

During a working visit to Armenia, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas and Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vartan Oskanian discussed Armenia’s Euro-integration goals and the implementation of the European Neighbourhood policy action plan. The meeting between the ministers took place on 8 November, in Yerevan.

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs encouraged Armenia to join forces with other countries of the Southern Caucasus in order to apply the experience of regional cooperation of the Baltic countries.

During the meeting the conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh was also discussed. Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs V.Oskanian indicated that current negotiations with Azerbaijan were aimed at resolving this conflict.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Armenia signed a memorandum of cooperation in the area of European integration.

In Yerevan, Minister P.Vaitiekūnas will also be received by Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Prime Minister Serge Sargsian.
