LITHUANIA CONGRATULATES THE RATIFICATION OF THE LATVIAN-RUSSIAN BORDER AGREEMENT AT THE RUSSIAN STATE DUMA
On 5 September Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas congratulated Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Artis Pabriks on the occasion of the ratification of the Latvian-Russian border agreement at the Russian State Duma.
During the telephone conversation with Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, P.Vaitiekūnas expressed conviction that the ratification of the agreement, which was the result of the long and complicated negotiations, and its immediate entry into force, would give greater stability to the region and would positively influence the relations between the European Union and Russia.
Lithuania also expects that this step of Russia will accelerate the entry into force of analogous agreement between Estonia and Russia, which is necessary to open up a constructive dialogue between Russia and the European Union.
