LITHUANIA CONGRATULATES GEORGIA ON PASSING DEMOCRACY EXAMINATION
Lithuania congratulates Georgia on passing its democracy examination by holding free and competitive elections that comply with the main OSCE commitments for democratic elections. Almost 150 observers from Lithuania who observed the elections in various rural and urban regions of Georgia did not note any essential violations. This fully coincides with the preliminary OSCE assessment of the elections.
Lithuania encourages all Georgian political forces to wait patiently for the final results of the elections and avoid actions that may cause unnecessary political tension in the country.
Preliminary results of the plebiscite in Georgia regarding the NATO membership of the country show that the Georgian society is focused on it’s clearly expressed goals.
Lithuania will continue supporting the democratic efforts of Georgia and its progress towards reforms and integration into Euro-Atlantic organisations.
