LITHUANIA AND UZBEKISTAN SIGNED AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT ON THE ECONOMIC COOPERATION
On 19 June, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the 3rd meeting of the Uzbek-Lithuanian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation was held. The Lithuanian delegation was headed by Vice Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania Česlovas Šikšnelis, and Uzbekistan’s delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Akmal Kamalov.
During the meeting, bilateral legal basis, cooperation in the areas of agriculture, tourism, communications, light industry, chemical industry, furniture and alimentary industry, issues of payments between companies were discussed.
Bilateral intergovernmental agreement on the economic cooperation between Lithuania and Uzbekistan was also signed during the meeting of the intergovernmental commission. It legitimizes the existing formats of cooperation and allows for concrete measures of development of bilateral relations
Seeking to strengthen and develop trade and economic relations, interested Uzbekistan’s companies were invited to come to Vilnius on 17-19 September, to the exhibition ‘Baltic Textile & Leather 2008’ at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Convention Centre LITEXPO, and also to take part in other exhibitions that are organised in Lithuania, to carry out a business mission to Lithuania, to meet with potential Lithuanian partners and to establish closer relations with them.
