LITHUANIA AND TURKMENISTAN DISCUSS PERSPECTIVES OF CLOSER ECONOMIC COOPERATION
On 12 December, in Ashgabat, Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Laimonas Talat-Kelpša and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov discussed perspectives of closer economic cooperation.
The Head of Turkmen diplomacy suggested signing a memorandum of cooperation between foreign ministries in the nearest future. Such a memorandum would intensify relations between Lithuanian and Turkmen Ministries of Foreign Affairs and promote bilateral cooperation.
L.Talat-Kelpša presented drafts of two agreements – on the Investment Promotion and Protection and on Trade and Economic Cooperation – to the representative of Turkmenistan. The latter agreement also stipulates the establishment of the bilateral intergovernmental commission.
L.Talat-Kelpša presented the invitation of Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs P.Vaitiekūnas to visit Vilnius. In his turn, Turkmen Minister invited P.Vaitiekūnas to pay a bilateral visit to Ashgabat.
