Lithuania and the United Kingdom to develop cooperation in crisis management and in combating hybrid threats
On 19 April, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius met with the heads of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat within the Cabinet Office of the United Kingdom Stuart Wainwright and Owen Jackson. At the invitation of Lithuania, the British officials are today visiting also other institutions of the country.
The meeting discussed security cooperation between Lithuania and the United Kingdom. According to Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister, Lithuania is interested in strengthening bilateral relations with the United Kingdom in the spheres of crisis and risk management, and the fight against hybrid threats. Our experts take a great interest in the UK’s experience in increasing the country’s resilience to emergencies.
Whilst implementing the Programme of the Government of Lithuania, the country is currently negotiating the establishment of an integrated system for crisis management and preventing hybrid threats.
The representatives from Lithuania and the UK discussed cooperation within the EU and NATO, as well as activities in the newly established European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats.
