LITHUANIA AND SLOVAKIA STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF A DIALOGUE SEEKING SOLIDARITY IN THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

On 29 January during consultations in Vilnius, Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Žygimantas Pavilionis and Director General of the Division for International Organisations and Development Assistance of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs Roman Bužek discussed bilateral and regional cooperation, important issues of the European Union Neighbourhood policy and exchanged opinions regarding Kosovo.

Ž.Pavilionis was glad that positions of Lithuania and Slovakia coincide on many issues. He highlighted that seeking solidarity in the most important EU issues, such as relations with the neighbours in the East and energy security, a bilateral dialogue, as well as the cooperation between the Baltic States and Vyshegrad countries plaid a major role.

Lithuanian and Slovak officials stressed the importance of a constructive and equal cooperation with Russia, also indicated the necessity to seek that Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine would be given a perspective of closer Euro-Atlantic integration in the nearest future.
