LITHUANIA AND POLAND AIM TO STRENGTHEN SOLIDARITY IN EUROPE
On 1 December Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis in his speech at the University of Warsaw stressed that solidarity is one of the cornerstones of peace, confidence and welfare in Europe and in the world.
The Head of Lithuanian diplomacy stated that the European Union will become neither stronger, nor more united, nor richer if the fundamental values are neglected because of passing economic interest or momentary political benefit.
“We can create united, safe and prosperous Europe only when we decrease the economic and social differences of the regions,” the Foreign Minister stressed.
According to the Minister this solidarity and mutual assistance of the states and regions was the prerequisite for the common market.
“Today we can declare that Lithuania’s and Poland’s relations can be an excellent example of close interstate relations. Old offences have changed to constructive dialogue and strategic partnership. This experience allows to speak about new projects and increased cooperation,” Minister Valionis said.
