LITHUANIA AND NAMIBIA WILL STRENGTHEN BILATERAL COOPERATION
On 15 March, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Šarūnas Adomavičius received first Namibian Ambassador to Lithuania Theresia Samaria, who arrived to present her credentials to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė. Development of bilateral relations in the areas of economy, trade and culture, and cooperation within international fora were discussed during the meeting. The Vice-Minister invited Namibia to engage into the activities of the Community of Democracies, which Lithuania chairs in 2009-2011.
Vice-Minister Š.Adomavičius welcomed the decision of the Government of Namibia to accredit the ambassador to Lithuania and assured that Lithuania was ready to contribute fully to the development of bilateral relations. Namibian Ambassador Th.Samaria highlighted the importance of the development of tourism and invited Lithuanian citizens to visit this country.
Th.Samaria resides in Stockholm. The Ambassador is also accredited to the Scandinavian countries and Latvia.
Namibia recognized Lithuania’s independence on 30 September 1991. The diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Namibia were established on 17 August 2005.
