LITHUANIA AND KUWAIT INTENSIFY THEIR RELATIONS
On 16 November in Vilnius, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė met with newly accredited Ambassador of Kuwait Musaed Rashid Ahmad Al-Haroun and discussed with him possibilities to advance bilateral economic relations, cooperation in the area of education and science, exchange of knowledge and expertise on important regional issues.The Vice-Minister stressed that it was necessary to intensify bilateral relations between Lithuania and Kuwait, as the countries were similar in size and population, and had a significant potential for developing mutually beneficial bilateral relations.
In the coming years, Kuwait is going to implement a broad infrastructure programme, which provides for the establishment of healthcare centres, schools and for the construction of roads. Lithuanian companies are also invited to take part in the programme. Kuwait is also interested in the import of Lithuanian agricultural products and cooperation in the areas of information technology and innovation.Ambassador of Kuwait to Lithuania resides in Berlin. The Ambassador came to Vilnius to present credential letters to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė.
Lithuania and Kuwait established diplomatic relations on 5 April 1994.
