Lithuania and India held political consultations in Vilnius

On 13 March, the tenth political consultations between Lithuania and India took place in Vilnius, led by the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Vidmantas Verbickas and Sibi George, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

During the consultations, relevant items on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, prospects for strengthening relations between Lithuania and India, the development of economic cooperation, and the security situation in the wider regional context were discussed. In addition, an agreement  granting the right to family members of staff of diplomatic missions or consular posts to carry out remunerated activities in the host state was signed.

"Lithuania appreciates the steadily growing ties with India and the increasing mutual political and economic interest, which is opened up by the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and India signed in January this year," said the Vice-Minister Verbickas.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to opportunities to further develop cooperation with India in high-tech, life sciences, lasers, and other fields, to promote cultural and scientific exchanges.
During the meeting, the Vice-Minister Verbickas noted the need to continue full support for Ukraine, to maintain pressure on the aggressors, and invited India to strengthen its partnership with the EU, thus increasing strategic resilience.
