LITHUANIA AND BULGARIA SIGNED AN AGREEMENT ON AVOIDANCE OF DOUBLE TAXATION AND PREVENTION OF FISCAL VIOLATIONS

On 9 May Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Ivailo Kalfin signed an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Government the Republic of Bulgaria on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal violations.

The Agreement will open up possibilities for development of Lithuanian-Bulgarian economic cooperation and increase of investment in these countries.

Lithuanian and Bulgarian Foreign Ministers discussed the prospects of development of bilateral political and economic relations, underlined the necessity to develop cooperation in the context of the EU and NATO, touched upon other topical issues of cooperation in the Baltic Sea region and  in the Balkans.

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kalfin acquainted his Lithuanian counterpart with Bulgaria’s preparations for accession to the European Union in 2007. The guest stressed, that Lithuania’s Euro-Atlantic integration experience and assistance is very valuable for Bulgaria pursuing the same goals.

Lithuania has already ratified Bulgaria’s EU accession agreement.
