Marking the 85th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Bulgaria, on 3 November, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė received Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Lithuania Ivan Dantchev. The Ambassador conveyed a letter from Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Rumiana Jeleva to Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas.

In the letter, Minister R.Jeleva writes: "The time elapsed has proved the will and readiness of our two countries to cooperate and move forward together. The accumulated valuable experience provides us with a solid base on which we have to build and deepen our partnership, for the prosperity of our friendly peoples, for further unification of Europe and for the building of a better and more just world."

On 3 November in Sofia, Chargé d’Affaires of Lithuania to Bulgaria Valdas Steponavičius delivered a letter of Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas to Deputy Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Marin Raikov.

In the letter, the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy welcomes good relations between Lithuania and Bulgaria, and highlights that it is necessary to further develop bilateral economic relations in the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea regions, and to strengthen energy security of the countries.

Lithuania and Bulgaria established diplomatic relations on 3 November 1924. Marking this date, an exhibition of historical documents on the bilateral relations will open at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 13 November, 1:00 p.m. Copies of documents of the period from 1921 to 1940 from the funds of the state archives of Lithuania and Bulgaria will be on display.
