LITHUANIA AND BRAZIL DISCUSS POSSIBILITIES TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL RELATIONS

On 17 March, Lithuania‘s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas received ambassador of Brazil to Lithuania George Lamaziere, who is residing in Copenhagen.

During the meeting, the Minister expressed satisfaction about the bilateral agreement between Lithuania and Brazil on visa-free travels, which had recently come into force.  At the same time, Minister V.Ušackas noted that there still were some irregularities related to the travels of Lithuanian citizens to Brazil and asked the ambassador to take all the necessary measures to guarantee visa-free regime for the Lithuanian citizens.

The Minister and the ambassador discussed possibilities to make bilateral economic and trade relations more active. The Minister also reminded about the invitation of President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus for President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to visit Lithuania.

During the meeting, possibilities to strengthen Lithuanian-Brazilian cooperation at the international organizations were also discussed. The interlocutors exchanged views on the relations between the European Union and Brazil, as well as on the EU‘s cooperation with Latin America and latest developments in the region.
