LITHUANIA ALIGNED ITSELF WITH THE EU DEMARCHE REGARDING IRAQ

On 5 February, Lithuania, as other EU acceding and associated countries, aligned itself with the Demarche by the presidency on behalf of the EU regarding Iraq. The demarche expressed concern about the Iraqi crisis and Baghdad was urged to co-operate with the UN.
“Time is running out. The UNSCR 1441 gave Iraq a final opportunity to disarm peacefully. If it does not take this chance it will carry the responsibility for all the consequences”, reads the demarche, which was carried out to the Iraqi missions in Athens, Brussels and New York on 4 February.
