LITHUANIA ADHERES TO IMO CONVENTION

On 3 March, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the United Kingdom Aurimas Taurantas met with Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Efthimios Mitropoulos and handed the document confirming Lithuania’s adhering to the Convention of 1976 on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims. Limits are specified for two types of claims - claims for loss of life or personal injury, and property claims. The Lithuanian Parliament ratified the Convention on 16 December last year. Lithuania is the 42nd state, who has adhered to and ratified the Convention.
