Linkevičius to pay a working visit to Mali and Ghana

On 17 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius will visit Mali, where he will meet with the country’s top officials, representatives from international organizations and Lithuania’s soldiers serving in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), and the European Union Training Mission Mali (EUTM Mali).

During the meetings with representatives from the Government of Mali, Linkevičius will discuss the participation of Lithuanian soldiers in these missions, the European Agenda on Migration, opportunities for the development of bilateral ties, cooperation in multilateral formats, as well as security and development challenges facing the country and the region.

Then, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister will depart for Ghana, where he will meet with the country’s Foreign Minister and other high-ranking representatives from the Government of Ghana, and discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of economy.

The head of Lithuania’s diplomacy will open Honorary Consulates of Lithuania in both countries.

This is the Foreign Minister’s first visit to both Mali and Ghana.

Lithuania and Mali established their diplomatic relations on 21 November 1995. Mamadou Habib Diallo has recently been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Lithuania. Lithuania and Ghana established their diplomatic relations on 17 June 1992. Lithuania’s Honorary Consul in Ghana Arturas Roškovskis represents Lithuania in this country.
