Linkevičius congratulates Slovakia on Constitution Day

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák and all the people of the country on Slovakia’s Constitution Day.

Linkevičius said that the relationship between Lithuania and Slovakia would be further developed in order to expand mutually beneficial and versatile cooperation.

“The values-based partnership will help us in working more closely to address multilateral issues. Lithuania is ready to cooperate in responding to global challenges, as Slovakia will take over the role of President of the United Nations General Assembly,” wrote Lithuania’s Foreign Minister in the letter.

On 12 September 2017, the Slovak Foreign Minister will assume the role of President of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Constitution Day in Slovakia is celebrated on 1 September. This national holiday commemorates the adoption of the country’s constitution on 1 September 1992.
