Linkevičius congratulates his counterpart in Bratislava on the Day of the Constitution of Slovakia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius sent a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák, congratulating him on the Day of the Constitution of Slovakia and wished wealth and success to his counterpart, and to all the people of Slovakia.

Linkevičius hailed the close and friendly relations between Lithuania and Slovakia, and stressed the importance of further close cooperation.

“With the Slovak EU Council Presidency almost halfway through I believe our two countries should continue to cooperate closely on many European and international issues that are being discussed in the European Union and other multilateral fora. Our strong bilateral ties and valuable regional cooperation offer perfect opportunities to promote our relations even further and reach our common goals even faster,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Minister.

Slovakia holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December.

The Day of the Constitution in Slovakia is celebrated on 1 September. The Constitution was adopted in 1992.
