Linkevičius bids farewell to the outgoing Italian Ambassador to Lithuania

On 26 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the outgoing Italian Ambassador to Lithuania Stefano Maria Taliani De Marchio. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for his work in Lithuania and the role in the development and strengthening of relations between the two countries.

“We are grateful to Italy for its contribution to strengthening security in our country and in the region, participation in NATO’s Air Policing mission in Lithuania and its role in NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence in the Baltic states. Recently, cooperation between the authorities of both countries has intensified in transferring asylum seekers from Italy to Lithuania. We appreciate the Ambassador’s personal contribution to the development of our bilateral cultural relations and to the promotion of economic cooperation and tourism,” said Linkevičius.

The meeting also discussed bilateral political, economic and cultural cooperation projects that were to be implemented in the short run.

The Italian Ambassador Stefano Maria Taliani De Marchio has served in Lithuania since 2013.
