Linkevičius attends Baltic Investors Forum, discusses regional and global geopolitical tsunamis

In the Baltic Investors Forum’s discussion ‘Europe – preparations for a geopolitical tsunami?’, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius together with Dr. George Friedman, one of the world’s foremost geopolitical analysts, and the Deputy Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs Olivier Onida discussed regional and global geopolitical challenges as well as their impact at the national and global levels.

“Despite all the threats both to this region and the world, Lithuania is a safe and reliable country for foreign investment. This is evidenced by recently announced decisions of German and American international companies to choose Lithuania for their investment projects,” stressed Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, addressing the participants of the event – business, science and society leaders from the Baltic region.

When speaking about the future of Europe and Lithuania’s place in it, the Lithuanian  Foreign Minister stressed that the country’s decision to join the EU and NATO had been strong and conscious. “Lithuania believes in Europe. We are an open market for foreign trade and investment. We also look optimistically into the future, but are driven by a realistic assessment. It is important to remember that we must not only declare our values, but also defend them,” stressed Lithuania’s Foreign Minister.

The Baltic Investors Forum (BIF) is one of the key business conferences in the Baltics. Business, science, and society leaders from the Baltic states as well as world-renowned experts met in Vilnius for the third time to discuss regional and global geopolitical challenges.
