Linas Linkevičius met with the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Foreign Minister of Georgia

On 3 April in Washington, the USA, on the margins of the NATO's 70th anniversary events, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius met with Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivana Klympush-Cincadze and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani.

Linas Linkevičius and the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine discussed the process of organisation of the first round of presidential elections and the implementation of the reforms in Ukraine despite the continuing Russian aggression.

"The first round of elections is a clear evidence that Ukraine is successfully passing the democracy examination. It is important to further comply with the election democracy and transparency standards during the second round and to continue the implementation of reforms whatever the outcome will be," Linas Linkevičius said.

They also discussed NATO and Ukraine's relations and preparation for the 14th meeting of the Lithuania-Ukraine Commission for European Integration in Kyiv.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister and Georgian Foreign Minister discussed relevant issues regarding NATO and EU integration, security situation in the Black Sea region and the situation in Georgian territories – Abkhazia and South Ossetia – occupied by Russia.

Linas Linkevičius emphasized Lithuania's standing support of Georgia’s pursuits to get integrated into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures and encouraged Tbilisi to continue reforms in the areas of democracy and rule of law.
