LATVIAN DIPLOMAT IS TO START WORKING AT THE EMBASSY OF LITHUANIA IN CHISINAU

On 14 March in Chisinau, Ambassador of Lithuania to Moldova Violeta Motulaitė and Ambassador of Latvia to Moldova Argita Daudze signed an agreement for the use of the facilities of the Lithuanian Embassy, thus completing all the necessary procedures. Now a Latvian diplomat can start working at the premises of the Embassy of Lithuania in Chisinau.

In turn, the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to use the premises of the Latvian Embassy in Astana.

This bilateral facility lease agreement was signed when implementing the Nordic-Baltic initiative on the placement of diplomats in missions of other Nordic-Baltic states in third countries. On 30 August 2011, eight Nordic-Baltic countries (Nordic Baltic Eight, NB8) signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the posting of diplomats at each other’s missions abroad.

The Memorandum makes it easier for the Nordic and Baltic countries to maintain a diplomatic presence around the world by enabling flexible and cost-effective solutions.

Lithuania is coordinating the Nordic-Baltic cooperation in 2012.

The Embassy of Lithuania in Chisinau was opened in 2006.
