Landsbergis to discuss regional security issues with Sikorski and other Polish officials in Warsaw

On March 19-20, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, will pay a working visit to Poland. During the visit, the head of Lithuania's diplomacy will meet with Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski and Chairman of the Sejm Foreign Affairs Commission Paweł Kowal.

The main topics of the meetings with high-ranking Polish officials will be joint actions to ensure the security of the region, coordination of positions before the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., current issues of strengthening the European defence potential, military, reconstruction and integration support for Ukraine and the tightening of sanctions against the aggressor Russia and its ally Belarus.

It will be the first visit of the head of Lithuania's diplomacy to Poland after the parliamentary elections held there in October last year. Lithuania and Poland enjoy a strategic partnership in security and defence, close economic ties and extensive cooperation in education, science and culture.

Poland ranks first according to the turnover of Lithuania's trade with foreign countries - in 2023, it reached 9.58 billion euros, and Polish direct investments in Lithuania amounted to 1.3 billion euros. Last year, Poland also took the lead in the number of tourists arriving in Lithuania - 173.5 thousand visited, almost twice as many as in 2022.
