Landsbergis: “The Philippines takes an interest in Lithuania’s Information Technology and cybersecurity sectors”
Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, met with the Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology of the Philippines, Ivan John Uy, in Manila on 25 April. Landsbergis highlighted Lithuania’s experience and achievements in digital transformation and proposed exploring opportunities for cooperation.
“We are interested in expanding our partnerships in the Indo-Pacific. The Philippines is one of the fast-growing countries in the region with a strong focus on digital infrastructure, where we have something to offer,” Landsbergis said.
Representatives of the Lithuanian information and communication technology sector from Teltonika and Technology LT accompanied the Foreign Minister. They presented their products and services and discussed possibilities for further cooperation with the Philippines.
“Lithuania has undergone a huge transformation in the digital space and effectively addresses cybersecurity challenges. We can share best practices in regulation and technical solutions,” said Landsbergis.
Last year, trade turnover between Lithuania and the Philippines amounted to EUR 24 million. Services exports to the Philippines grew 95 % in 2023, reaching EUR 10.3 million.
This is the first visit of the Lithuanian Foreign Minister to the Philippines.
