Landsbergis presents Lithuania’s Diplomacy Stars in Washington, D.C., for fostering bilateral relations
In Washington DC, the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy conferred Lithuania’s Diplomacy Stars on Douglas D. Jones, former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs and John E. Herbst, senior director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center
“Two fronts define the ties between the U.S. and Lithuania today. One is in Ukraine, the other on NATO’s eastern flank. With your help, we are able to withstand enemy pressure on both. I hope that together we will also witness Ukraine’s path towards NATO membership,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, when presenting the awards of honour.
Douglas Jones was awarded Lithuania’s Diplomacy Star for his long-standing efforts to ensure that the U.S. Administration supported Lithuania’s national interests. John Herbst was honoured for joint projects with Lithuania and his special focus on Ukraine, actively advocating for both the provision of consistent and sufficient military assistance and its victory.
