Landsbergis meets with Black Hawk manufacturers: "Hopefully, Lithuanian investment in defence will lead to military equipment testing, repair, and possibly component production in Lithuania"

On March 21, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, visited Sikorsky Aircraft, a Lockheed Martin company which produces UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters for Lithuania.

"It is symbolic that the company founded by an emigrant from Ukraine produces helicopters that protect people's lives around the world and at the same time provide reliable military defence," Lithuania's Foreign Minister said during the meeting.

Helicopters manufactured by this Connecticut company should reach Lithuania in 2025.

"We offer the best conditions for defence industry investment in Lithuania and have the necessary experience and industrial capabilities. Hopefully, Lithuanian investment in defence will lead to military equipment testing, repair, and possibly component production in Lithuania," noted Landsbergis.

HIMARS missiles and other military equipment are also produced in Lockheed Martin's divisions.

"By increasing defence spending and a clear perception of threats, we signal to our transatlantic partners and the defence industry that our plans to strengthen security are long-term," Landsbergis said at the meeting with the leaders of Sikorsky Aircraft company.
