Landsbergis meets the new Ambassador of Norway: "Lithuania and Norway are determined to support Ukraine until victory"

On 8 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, met with Atle Konta Midttun, the new Ambassador of Norway to Lithuania. The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Norway, regional security, defence and cooperation issues, Russia's war against Ukraine, and support for the country in its fight against aggression.
“Lithuania and Norway are particularly close allies and like-minded countries, and our cooperation within the Nordic-Baltic Eight and NATO formats is becoming more active and closer. Side by side, we are working to strengthen both bilateral and regional cooperation further, to make the Nordic and the Baltic Sea countries more resilient to various threats, and to make the region even safer. Both Lithuania and Norway are strongly committed to supporting Ukraine until victory, which is our strategic priority. The Baltic and Nordic countries remain among the leading supporters of Ukraine in terms of donated percentage of their GDP,” Landsbergis said.
Lithuania's Foreign Minister thanked Norway for deploying the Norwegian troops to boost the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group at Rukla and invited Norway to join NATO's rotational air defence. The Foreign Minister also underlined the strong economic ties between our countries. There is untapped potential to strengthen cooperation in the field of the defence industry, while Norway has been an important partner of Lithuania in strengthening energy security over many years.
Atle Konta Midttun presented his letters of credence to the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, on 16 September 2024. He is Norway's tenth Ambassador to Lithuania after the restoration of Lithuania's independence.
