Landsbergis in Warsaw: In most cases, we are caught in what might be called a trap of stability, not looking from the perspective of an existential threat

On 1 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis spoke at the Warsaw Security Forum's ministerial panel discussion "Thinking Europe A New: Forging a Vision for Future European Security". Landsbergis was joined by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Ukraine and the Minister for Defence of Sweden.

"In most cases, when we deal with Russia, China, and other aggressors, we are caught in what might be called a trap of stability, not looking from the perspective of an existential threat. My biggest worry is that we will actually start doing things that would really define this pivotal moment globally only when change is unavoidable." said Landsbergis.

The annual Warsaw Security Forum, held since 2014, brings together senior representatives from governments, international organizations, international policy experts and civil society from more than 90 countries. The Forum discusses geopolitical trends, transatlantic cooperation, and the Russian threats that affect the security of the region and Europe as a whole, as well as responses to them.
