Landsbergis calls on Filipino and Lithuanian businesses to organise business missions

On 25 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, discussed possibilities for cooperation in high-tech sectors with members of the Management Association of the Philippines and invited them to come to Lithuania with a business delegation.

“Lithuania aims to diversify export markets and attaches great importance to partnerships in the dynamic Indo-Pacific region. The Philippines is a rapidly growing, promising country with which we want to cooperate more. I want to invite businesses from the countries to organise business missions and virtual presentations,” Landsbergis said.

During the meeting, Filipino entrepreneurs were acquainted with Lithuania’s economic achievements and progress in high-tech sectors: information and communication technology, laser production, life sciences, renewable energy, and financial technology.

Members of the association met with representatives from Lithuanian companies “KN Energies,” “Teltonika,” and “Technology LT,” who presented their activities and opportunities for cooperation.

The meeting participants also noted that the Philippines was an essential market for Lithuanian agricultural products. Lithuania is seeking import permits in the Philippines for beef, poultry, eggs, and egg products.

Last year, Lithuania’s and the Philippines’ trade turnover amounted to EUR 24 million (10.5 % less than in 2022). Exports of services to the Philippines grew by 95 % in 2023, reaching EUR 10.3 million.

This is the Lithuanian Foreign Minister’s first visit to the Philippines. Landsbergis will also meet with the Philippine Secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Energy, Information, and Communications Technology.
