L.Linkevičius thanks the United Kingdom for its significant contribution to strengthening Baltic airspace protection

On 1-3 May, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius paid a working visit to the United Kingdom and met with the country’s Minister of State for Europe at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office David Lidington, other high-ranking officials.

Meetings with British politicians discussed the deteriorating situation in Ukraine, cooperation within NATO and the European Union, closer coordination with the Nordic-Baltic countries and transatlantic partners. Significant attention was dedicated to energy security issues. Minister L.Linkevičius thanked D.Lidington for the United Kingdom’s contribution to strengthening the Baltic airspace protection.

 In London, L.Linkevičius also participated in a round table discussion at expert level on Eastern Partnership Policy at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and the 7th Baltic Symposium, organised by the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) of University College London (UCL) in cooperation with Embassies of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the United Kingdom. These events focused on Eastern Partnership, especially on the situation in Ukraine, security issues, Lithuania’s 10th anniversary of the joining of the European Union and accession to NATO.
