L.LINKEVIČIUS: LITHUANIA - A COUNTRY WITH TWO WINGS, READY TO FLY

During the visit to India, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius gave a speech at Jawaharlal Nehru University on 13 November in New Delhi. “Lithuania is a country with two wings: the Nordic and Baltic countries, one of the world’s most competitive regions, from one side and Central European and the Visegrád countries from another side. We are ready to fly and we invite India to be our partner,” the head of the Lithuanian diplomacy said.

At Jawaharlal Nehru University, L.Linkevičius opened an exhibition “Antanas Poška in India”, which is dedicated to the 110th birth anniversary of Antanas Poška and his trip to India in 1929-1936.

L.Linkevičius also met with the Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Sudarsana Natchiappan to discuss prospects for economic cooperation. During a meeting with businessmen, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister invited Indian companies to invest more in Lithuania.

On 10 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius also met with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and signed an intergovernmental agreement on the waiver of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports.

On 11-12 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius attended the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), which brought together representatives from more than 40 countries.
