L.LINKEVIČIUS ATTENDS TRADITIONAL MEETING OF BALTIC AND BENELUX FOREIGN MINISTERS

On 9-10 October in Riga, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended an annual meeting of the Baltic and Benelux Foreign Ministers in Riga to discuss the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius and important issues of the EU related to foreign policy, including the EU’s institutional reform, cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries, the situation in Syria, Egypt and the Middle East.

On the eve of the Baltic and Benelux Foreign Ministers meeting, L.Linkevičius met with Natalia Gherman, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova. The meeting discussed support of the Baltic and Benelux countries to the implementation of structural reforms in Moldova and agreements with the European Union.

L.Linkevičius (left) and Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs During the meeting, L.Linkevičius presented preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit as well as underlined the importance and mutual long-term benefits of concluding agreements with the European Union for Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.
