L.LINKEVIČIUS AND U.S. ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE DISCUSS PROSPECTS FOR EASTERN PARTNERSHIP AND FURTHER COOPERATION

On 9 January in Trakai, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the United States Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland. The meeting discussed preparations for this year’s NATO Summit, cooperation between Lithuania and the U.S., and prospects for the EU’s Eastern Partnership initiative.

L.Linkevičius thanked the United States for participating in NATO’s Air Policing mission in the Baltic States and stressed readiness to further strengthen the Lithuania-U.S. strategic partnership.

During the meeting, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister and the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State also discussed energy security and important issues related to international and regional security.

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State arrived in Lithuania to participate in the Snow Meeting on 9 and 10 January in Trakai.
