L.LINKEVIČIUS AND FORMER ITALIAN FOREIGN MINISTER DISCUSS TOP-LINE NATO AND EU AGENDA ITEMS

On 26 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with former Foreign Minister of Italy Franco Frattini, who is visiting Vilnius, and discussed NATO and EU agenda items, which are important for the two countries.

“We have to continue and strengthen our cooperation on international security and the relationship between NATO and the European Union,” the Lithuanian Foreign Minister said.

The meeting discussed the successful cooperation between Lithuania and Italy in the field of security and defence. L.Linkevičius and F.Frattini were glad that Lithuania, the country which was to mark the 10th anniversary of its NATO membership next year, was an important and trusted ally, and actively contributed to international security.

The agenda of F.Frattini’s visit to Lithuania also included a meeting with representatives from the Office of the Government. The guest gave a lecture “Stronger transatlantic Alliance and Europe together for protecting citizens” at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University.
