L. Linkevičius discusses situation in Moldova with its Prime Minister
On 22 August in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with Moldova’s Prime Minister Maia Sandu to discuss the situation in Moldova, the priorities of domestic and foreign policy of the country's new government, and exchanged views on security situation in the region.
Lithuania’ Foreign Minister noted that Moldova was an important partner of Lithuania that received great attention. “Lithuania has consistently supported the European integration aspirations of Moldova and the country’s progressive reforms,” said the Foreign Minister.
Moldova’s Prime Minister thanked Lithuania for its consistent support to Moldova and noted that the Lithuanian Foreign Minister was the first EU Minister to visit Moldova after the formation of the new Government. According to M. Sandu, the new Government plans to step up its fight against corruption, to implement European reforms and the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement.
The Prime Minister of Moldova M. Sandu is visiting Lithuania at the invitation of the former President Valdas Adamkus. She will attend an international conference. M. Sandu will also meet with the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and the Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis.
