Kęstutis Budrys in a meeting with the Polish Foreign Minister: The unity of Lithuania and Poland on regional security issues is our key asset
On 16 December, Minister Kęstutis Budrys participated in the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels. On the sidelines of the meeting, the head of Lithuanian diplomacy met with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
In the meeting, K. Budrys emphasized the importance of Lithuanian-Polish cooperation, especially on security and defence issues.
“The unity of Lithuania and Poland on regional security issues is our key asset. We must continue to work consistently with EU partners and allies to strengthen Europe’s defence capabilities and to support Ukraine until victory,” said Budrys.
The ministers discussed joint measures that Lithuania and Poland could take to help Ukraine.
They also talked about the security situation in the EU’s southern neighbourhood and the potential for a more active role of the EU in Syria, Libya, and other countries in the region.
